Communications Methods

As we move through the build process teams will want to communicate share questions and show off progress.

We would reccomend you use the google tools you and the students have available to you.

Progress Reporting

for progress reporting use

This is a part of the Google Suite.

Your Students may want to check out this blog :

This was created by the student team at Magdalene to share their efforts in the High Altitude Balloon Launch.

Some Ideas on setting up the Blog

  • Make the Blog public - brief the kids on the implication of this keep an eye on the blog
  • Turn off comments - It reduces the trolls
  • Get a Media Manager - Encourage the teams to nominate one person to handle the communications
  • Create Competition - Ensure each team follows the others Blogs this will create a friendly competition and the quality of all Blogs will improve
  • Post Often - A good blog has lots of short posts.
  • Share - Make sure you school staff all know the blog addresses. Share them with us and we will share them out across the Diocese and into other Dioceses.

Send me the addresses of each blog created and we will post them here.

Real Time Collaboration

Encourage your teams to use

The kids cannot create a Zoom meeting but they can particpate in them. You as teachers can create meetings and we suggest you do so.

I think we should schedule meetings between all teams, maybe once a month with each team allocated 5 minutes to do a verbal report on where they are up to.

Social Media

Have the teams create a Twitter account and publicise that account. Get the kids to create a hash tag that embodies the essence of their team. Get the teams to put

#spotlight20

in each post.

Organising Meetings

Everyone is busy and has different timetables and calendars. Use

This allows to to select potential meeting times from your calendar and create a poll that you can send out to participants. This way all your participants can select the time that works for them.
